Entry Requirements

1. Qualifications:

Like all academic programmes, our degree courses have entry requirements. Usually we will expect you to have a good undergraduate qualification in a relevant field (for example in Arts, Social Sciences or Humanities).

However, we are willing to consider all circumstances, and even if you lack relevant qualifications, we do offer short foundation courses to prepare you for a postgraduate degree. If you're not sure about something, don't be afraid to contact us and ask! You can contact us by email or call us on (+44) 20 8438 1207 and 0800 612 68 68 (UK only).

2. Hardware:

Obviously as an exclusively online programme, Openstudying needs a computer with an Internet connection. It doesn't need to be state-of-the-art; it just needs to let you access our website and submit your assignments. This could be your own personal computer or an Internet cafe.

3. Time:

While we have done everything we can to make our course as flexible and accessible as possible to students all over the world, studying will always require a certain amount of commitment. On average, you will probably need 40 hours a week full-time or 20 part-time. Of course, the beauty of Openstudy is that you can fit it into whatever time is convenient for you; some of our students are known to use their lunch and coffee breaks to catch up on their readings!

4. Fees:

Openstudying is a financial commitment. But unlike other courses of study which might require you to travel overseas, Openstudy can be done at your leisure. It fits around your life, so you don't have to stop working or relocate. All of this makes it significantly more affordable. We also have occasional scholarship opportunities which are advertised on our website. Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any queries about finance.

5. Local library:

In the course of your studies, you will have to do research, read core and supplementary books and have access to some reference works. So, before enrolment, you are advised to make sure that you have access to a library which can provide you with the relevant materials.
